Orthoplasty or cosmetic surgery of the ears is a procedure that is performed to reposition the prominent ears to a more normal position, more attached to the head, or to reduce their size; even if there is any injury or birth deformity.
Usually, this surgery is performed at any age once the ears have reached their final size, that is, at approximately 5 years of age, and during adulthood. It is usually done in both ears to optimize symmetry. It is important to note that this surgery will not change the location of the ears or alter the ability to listen.
